2nd & 3rd Riding Lesson

I had my second lesson on April 11th 2023, just a week after my initial one. The novelty of riding hadn’t worn off; I was still filled with excitement. During this lesson, I discovered that the horse’s fringe is called a forelock, which I found incredibly cute. I also engaged in some grooming, brushing the horse’s body to remove dirt and dust.

The coach emphasized the importance of a clean coat for the horse’s comfort and performance. While I don’t recall every detail of the ride, I do remember walking around the arena, focusing on posture, form, and balance—learning how to sit properly on the horse and signal specific actions. The lesson was exciting and enjoyable for both my friend & I.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to enter the tack room, a place I found intriguing. With the assistance of the sweet little girls who were yard helpers, I returned all the tack to its designated positions.

In my third lesson, I was excited to wear my new beige jodhpurs, purchased from a store at the Windsor Horse Show. Riding Bear, the horse from my initial lesson, brought back nostalgic feelings as I’ve developed a strong affinity for him. This lesson mirrored the structure of the second one, emphasizing harmony with the horse, practicing walking in a line, and mastering steering onto the center line. It was a delightful session shared with a friend, marking the end of my third and final semi-private lesson.
